TFL Window

The 2011 IBF edition is characterized by a big news that aims at boosting the market between books and movies, which is constantly growing even in Italy. During the last few years – even though it seems to be a constant if we look back in time – movies based on literary works have gained great visibility and a consequent success. According to a market research carried out by AIE - The Italian Publishers Association it turns out that 27% of movies are based on books.
This is why it became necessary to create an advanced link between books and movies or TV.  The TFL Window was therefore created, a project based on the converging experiences of the International Book Forum and  TorinoFilmLab (an international laboratory which supports emerging talents during their first or second feature film by conceiving tailor-made developing, financial and marketing strategies). The TFL Window is a “window” where two professional story editors of TorinoFilmLab will carry out from May 12th to May 14th 2011 (all IBF’s duration) a publishing scouting activity in order to spot new movie scripts to channel into one of the paths dedicated to developing TorinoFilmLab’s network which boasts different programs, just to mention a few of them: Script&Pitch, Framework and Interchange.
The link between publishing and audiovisual, and its development , doesn’t stop here: IBF has established an important partnership with Industry Books of the International Rome Film Festival, an event organized by  the Fondazione Cinema per Roma – in collaboration with the Associazione Calipso – under the patronage of AIE – Italian Publishers Association, ANICA – Italian Association of Cinematographic Audiovisual and Multimedia Industries and APT – Television Producers Association.  A unique and prestigious panel in Italy that allows publishers, literary agents to meet with the audiovisual industry, by presenting to both Italian and international producers books with a strong potential for movie and television adaptation.
During the IBF, the TFL Window will pre-select 20 publishing projects (book published in 2011 or that have not yet been published) coming from Italian and English publishers (United Kingdom will be the guest country of Focus of the 2011 International Rome Film Festival). These projects will be presented in July to a jury elected by the Fondazione Cinema per Roma. The 10 finalist books, chosen by the jury, will then be shown to producers, authors and distributors (both Italian and international) on October 27th 2011 during the International Rome Film Festival. The day will begin with a networking breakfast that will be followed by different meetings previously arranged by the Business Street staff – the Festival’s section dedicated to circulation, acquisition and sale of audiovisual products – and New Cinema Network.
