IBF 2010 - Conference sessions programA lot of interesting subjects will be discussed during the conference sessions of the IBF 2010. For Thursday May 13, the Italian Trade Commission organized a panel on the Italian publishing in the USA, an encounter aimed to display the market opportunities for the Italian publisher in the United States, with Tina Jordan of the Association of American Publishers, Jonathan Burnham of HarperCollins, Anna Knutson of Maria B. Campbell Associates, Marco Ausenda of RCS Group, Sandro Ferri of E/O; European Edition, Chad Post of Three Percent Press and Patrick Nolan from the Penguin Group. In the same day, a panel organized in collaboration with Associazione F.E.R.T. and the Bureau International de l'edition française, will discuss about the new frontiers of Transmedia and the evolution of the French adaptation market. Friday May 14, is going to be entirely dedicated to the subject of book adaptation for TV and cinema, beginning with a speech of Giuseppe Fiore of Wildside, who is going to talk about the modern approach to adaptation of the FOX TV theme channels. A presentation of a documentary project based on the work and life of Emilio Salgari (produced by Minimum Fax Media) will follow. In the afternoon, the author and director Marco Ponti will give some “unrequested advice to publishers”, followed by a presentation of Adapt-Lab, a project for a laboratory of incubation and development of film and TV adaptations based on Italian novels, promoted by Torino Film Lab, IBF and Incontri Cinematografici di Stresa. IBF 2009: a record attendance
Among the publishing houses and literary agencies from Europe taking part were: Gallimard and Flammarion (France), C. Bertelsmann and Suhrkamp Verlag (Germany), Assirío & Alvim (Portugal), Norstedts Förlagsgrupp (Sweden), 451 Editores (Spain), Zed Books and Little Brown Book Group (Great Britain). The world of cinema was also well represented, with scouts and literary consultants from important production companies and talent agencies in America, like Fox, Creative Artists Agency, Marc Platt Productions, New Line Cinema, Smoke House; from France, groups like Grandeur Nature, from Germany Constantin Films among others, from Russia the Bazelevs and Central Partnership, from the UK Rosalind Ramsay Agency, Anne Louise Fischer Associates and The Bureau. |




India is the guest country of the 23rd edition of the Turin International Book Fair, and the International Book Forum 2010 is going to welcome several Indian publishers at the Lingotto Conference Center. The IBF participants will have the possibility to present their catalogues on the Eastern market and to option translation rights of Indian books. The publishers attending are specialized in different genres and subjects, from fiction to non-fiction, from young adults to university books.Here is the list of the Indian publishers attending: Abhinav Publications, Diamond Pocket Books, Har-Anand Publications, Laxmi Publications, Phi Learning Private, Pitambar Publishing Company, Planet Multimedia Publishers, Pustak Mahal, Shishu Sahitya Samsad, Star Publications and Sterling Publishers.
The main feature of the 2009 event was the hectic pace: more than 6000 meetings in the 30 hours of the forum. An absolute marathon for almost 700 partecipants coming from approximately thirty countries (Albania, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, India, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Mexico, Holland, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the USA) to take part in the IBF – International Book Forum 2009, the business to business area inside the Torino International Book Fair that is dedicated to publishing and audiovisual rights exchange and to developing new publishing projects.
